Spirometry (Pulmonary Function Testing)
Spirometry measures lung function through gauging the amount (volume) and/or speed (flow) of air that can be inhaled and exhaled. The test aids in assessing respiratory conditions, such as asthma, pulmonary fibrosis and cystic fibrosis.
Testing is performed using the Sensormedics Volume Spirometer, which provides the most accurate reading of lung volume and flow. All technicians who administer the test are certified by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH).

Respirator Medical Clearance
OSHA Respiratory Protection Standard states that all employees required to use respiratory protection are medically cleared for respirator use by a physician. Our program is based on spirometry combined with the employee’s medical history. This allows the physician to identify pre-existing or early forms of pulmonary disease that could prevent employees from safely using respirator equipment.
Respirator Fit Testing
A respirator fit test is performed to check that the respirator size and model chosen properly fits the employee’s face. Although a respirator may appear to fit correctly, gaps can occur around the nose, chin or eyes. A fit test confirms that the mask fits properly with minimal air leakage between the face and the mask.
OMC Respirator Fit Tests guarantees you comply with OSHA Respirator Standard (1910.134), which states:
A respirator shall be provided to each employee when such equipment is necessary to protect the health of such employee. The employer shall provide the respirators which are applicable and suitable for the purpose intended. The employer shall be responsible for the establishment and maintenance of a respiratory protection program
Quantitative and qualitative tests are conducted on the Model 8020 Portacount, the most updated version of Portacount technology, and are used in conjunction with individual laptop computers. Test results and hard copy documentation are left with the company upon completion of testing, and employees are issued either a walletsize card or a sticker indicating the respirator equipment they were fitted for. Technicians are full-time respiratory protection specialists who are thoroughly trained in respirator fit testing.

Audiometry
Audiometry measures one’s hearing ability. The audiometric tests will determine the hearing level of your employees and measure their ability to discriminate between different sound intensities, recognize pitch or distinguish speech from background noise.
Screening is performed using Tremetrics RA600 equipment. All technicians who administer the test are certified by the Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conversation (CAOHC). An audiologist reviews and compares tests for threshold shifts.
